Head of Allied Health Professions at NHS England and NHS Improvement
Stuart is a physiotherapist by profession, graduating from the University of Hertfordshire. Initially, he worked clinically across Sussex and has since worked in local, regional and national leadership roles, both within and outside of the NHS.
Currently, Stuart is Head of Allied Health Professions at NHS England and NHS Improvement, leading and working across a number of different portfolios and projects, including, professional leadership, systems reform and legislation, primary are and diversity and inclusion.
Stuart has led the development of several key pieces of AHP policy publications, including: Investing in chief AHPs (2019), Developing AHP leaders (2019), Chief AHPs handbook (TBC) and AHPs in integrated care systems (tbc). A key part of his role is the operationalisation of policy and strategy, working with Trusts and Systems to fully utilise the transformative potential of the AHP workforce.
Outside of the NHS, Stuart is a Board Trustee at St Barnabas and Chestnut Tree House Hospice Group and a Non-Executive Director at Sport for Confidence, a CIC striving to improve inclusivity and accessibility in sport. He is also a visiting lecturer at several Universities across the UK.
In 2019 Stuart qualified as an Executive and Senior Leadership Coach and Mentor, and enjoys seeing those he works with progress into new and exciting opportunities. He is also shortly about to graduate from the Nye Bevan Executive Leadership Programme.
Outside of work, Stuart enjoys juggling a one year old, a crazy spaniel and finding some time to exercise and relax…!
