Apprenticeships Live – The BBC
A live interactive broadcast with apprentices at the BBC's Business Affairs Team and Engineering Team.
This session will cover:
Junior works with the Business Affairs Team who supports the Commissioning team for all the Dramas that the BBC make with externals companies and also the programmes the BBC acquires. There are 3 Business Affairs Managers, two Business Affairs Executives and one Business Affairs Assistant in the immediate team, with a wider support team who looks after finance and commercial business. We price, negotiate and contract the programmes, in conjunction with the commissioning team (also known as Editorial Team)
Both Krystel and Ruth are on the broadcast engineering apprenticeship which involves a bachelors degree in broadcast and communications engineering. Their time is split between university work and 3 month placements at the BBC and related companies. Day to day while they are on placement they can be involved in a number of things ranging from fixing broken devices or code to helping on outside broadcasts and live shows.
Ruth was involved in a research project that was looking into sustainability in data centres and office spaces which was based in research and development. Krystel has been more on the production and networking side, doing installation projects with the companies she’s been with.
