About TfL

Every day, we help millions of people to make journeys across London: By Tube, bus, tram, car, bike – and more. People don’t associate us with journeys by river, on foot or via the air, but we help with that, too. Getting people to where they need to go has been our business over 100 years, and it shows. We’re leaders in our field, and no other city’s transport system is quite as recognisable: Red buses, black taxis, Tube trains and roundels have become icons in their own right.

Our main job is to keep the city moving, working and growing but to do that, we have to listen. Constant improvements across the network are fuelled by feedback and comments from customers, as well as work within communities, representative groups, businesses and other London transport stakeholders.

But our progress also depends on technology and data. With the future at our fingertips, we’ve already used it to revolutionise travel payments (think Oyster and contactless payment cards), and improved travel information. Tech and data is essential, not just to our future, but to others’: third parties use our data to power apps and services vital to customer journeys.

So what’s next? As well as continuing to deliver Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan’s strategy and commitments on transport, our programme of capital investments is still one of the largest. We’re building the Elizabeth line, modernising services and station and making travel safer for all. Here at TfL, Every Journey Matters.

The panel

Anna Zaborska

Recruitment Consultant

I’m a recruitment consultant at Transport for London working in Early Careers team.

I recruit for apprenticeships, graduate and internship programmes. I also plan and organise events to promote our roles. I’ve been working here for 1 and a half years and I’m passionate about bringing new talent to the business.

Chloe Miles

Apprentice Quantity Surveyor

My name is Chloe Miles and I am a second year Quantity Surveying apprentice with TFL. I am currently working with the commercial surface team on bus facilities.

I chose to join the TFL apprenticeship scheme as it is one of the best on offer. The opportunities within this company are much greater then you could get elsewhere, there are many different areas to experience from London Underground to surface and maintenance.

There is the opportunity to experience a large variety of roles throughout your apprenticeship which helps you to decide which path you would prefer to go down when you finish the scheme.

Muhammad Patel

3rd Year Apprentice Engineer Maintenance

I started my apprenticeship straight after finishing sixth form, I feel I have discovered and learnt skills which I may have not gained if I never started working and went to university.

I have been exposed to the entire network of TfL to understand how it runs. From the start off my apprenticeship to now, I have had an amazing experience within my apprenticeship and would always advice anyone who is unsure off what they want to do to consider an apprenticeship.
