Design the “Esteem Pavilion” in Dubai – a highly sustainable learning centre to teach local homeowners how to live sustainably.
Join Class Of Your Own, Heriot Watt University’s School Of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society, the Emirates Green Building Council and other architecture, engineering and construction professionals from leading organisations in the DEC Virtual Work Experience Week.
Working independently or in teams, students are tasked to design, engineer and construct a digital or physical model, produce floor plans and elevations. They will produce a report that describes how their building is eco-friendly in its material and energy use, but also what it will provide, as an important learning centre for local people living in a desert environment just outside Dubai city. Their portfolio provides students with a fantastic, industry-endorsed ‘DEC CONNECT’ Award (read more here: https://designengineerconstruct.com/dec-awards/) plus evidence of their work for inclusion in a CV that demonstrates also their ability to carry out research, work independently and in teams, demonstrate STEM, numeracy and literacy skills and a whole host of other employability skills.
It also enables schools to meet national Career Education standards.
With a full range of supporting resources, videos and access to real professionals each day to answer questions and provide insight to industry practice, this work experience is a MUST for any young person considering a career in the architecture, engineering and construction (‘AEC’) sector.
