Health Careers LIVE with Brighton and Sussex Medical School

Health Careers LIVE are live streamed events that broadcast to thousands across the UK wanting to find out more about the different job roles within the NHS.

This live broadcast featured Dr Jonathan Sadler, a former anaesthetic trainee and current teaching fellow at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. Sam Wickham, a Widening participation representative for Brighton and Sussex Medical School and a current medical student.

The broadcast focused on applying to study medicine, entry requirements, widening participation, getting the right sort of experience, BSMS, being a medical student, how long it takes, what you can do with it and the role of a doctor.

The live chat is open next to the video player so feel free to leave a question or comment and we’ll get it forwarded to the team from the Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

  • Dr Jonathan Sadler

    Teaching Fellow, Brighton and Sussex Medical School

    Jonny is a teaching fellow at BSMS. Coming from a background of 5 years of anaesthetic training he currently teaches many different topics to year groups 1-5 at BSMS in classrooms, lecture theatres, simulation rooms and hospitals. As well as teaching duties, he also interviews students, supports the BSMS student revision app, examines students, iss helping with careers for our students and performs research.

    Currently he is studying for a PG-Cert in medical education and is looking to start a follow on PhD in October.

  • Sam Wickham

    Widening Participation Representative, Brighton and Sussex Medical School

    Sam has worked in outreach and admissions at BSMS for five years, advising, guiding and supporting young people from varied backgrounds to make a competitive application to medical school. In addition, Sam sits on the BSMS admissions board and supports selection days, including the writing of interview questions and advice and guidance to candidates.
