Learning in Lockdown – Work Experience Week: 18th-22nd May 2020

Scape Group is proud to be working with Class of Your Own, Learn Live and the Engineering Development Trust to provide UK students with an exceptional opportunity to take part in a home-based work experience week, supported by some of the country’s top professionals!

The Class Of Your Own ‘Esteem Pavilion’ design challenge forms the basis of an exciting week of project-based learning, enabling all students with an interest in architecture, engineering and construction, to work from home (just like real life!) and secure a recognised experience that will be a great addition to their CVs.

At 10:00am on Monday 18th May, Heriot Watt University’s Team Esteem, and the Emirates Green Building Council will provide hints and tips about ‘How to design, engineer and construct in a desert environment‘.

A panel of professionals will then be answering your questions so you can submit them using the LIVE CHAT facility next to the video player.

All resources and industry support will be provided throughout the week of the work experience and what’s more, every completed project can be entered into this great competition!

The Challenge: can you create a greener future?

Together with Heriot Watt University and the fabulous TEAM ESTEEM, we are inviting budding design, engineering and construction professionals to design the ESTEEM PAVILION, an inclusive learning space where people can learn how to live a greener life…

Working as a digital team, your students can use their creativity and ingenuity to collaborate online and create this fantastic centre…on a site in Dubai!

They’ll need to use research skills to discover how a desert climate will affect their decisions and how they might influence whole communities to ‘think green’ in their everyday lives.

We’ll be with you and your students every step of the way… with support from architecture, engineering and construction professionals who will happily provide some hints and tips via social media and webinars.

Speakers include creators of the Esteem Pavilion Challenge and award-winning Design Engineer Construct! Learning Programme, social enterprise ‘Class Of Your Own’, supported by international students and academics from the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS) at Heriot Watt University.

HWU’s dynamic ‘Team Esteeem’ students represent the only UK university to make it to the finals of the Solar Decathlon Middle East competition.

They are joined by leaders of the Emirates Green Building Council members based in Dubai, working to promote a sustainable future in the United Arab Emirates, and Topcon Positioning Systems, global leaders in geospatial mapping.
