About Nottinghamshire LIVE
Nottinghamshire LIVE brings you close to two of our projects that are currently shaping the world we live in. The Top Wighay Farm (TWF) Infrastructure project and the Gedling Access Road (GAR) are projects currently creating a legacy in Nottingham, constructed by Balfour Beatty.
Joining our business at every level, our apprentices, graduates and trainees tackle puzzles every day. Join them and you’ll be involved in some of the most complex and challenging work out there – earning while you learn, and finding answers that shape daily life.
Our teams will give you an insight into life on a construction project and let you know how you can join the journey. Our interactive broadcast event will feature a Q&A session with industry professionals and trainees.
The LIVE CHAT will be open next to the video player so feel free to leave a question or comment for our panel of construction experts.
Top Wighay Farm – Infrastructure
The planned Top Wighay Farm development, a 40-hectare site situated north-west of Hucknall, will include 805 new homes, land for employment purposes, a local centre, a new primary school and associated infrastructure, as well as new areas of multi-purpose green space. Balfour Beatty is currently constructing the infrastructure required to facilitate the development. The current highways works included expansion of a roundabout on the A611/Annesley Road and a new signal-controlled junction as well as a new, three-metre wide, shared use footway/cycle lane along the northern side of the A611 north of Hucknall and to the west of Linby. The project is being delivered through the Scape National Civil Engineering and Infrastructure Framework.
The £41m Gedling Access Road (GAR) is a new 3.8km single carriageway road which will provide a link between the B684 Mapperley Plains and the A612 Trent Valley Road / Nottingham Road. The GAR is being delivered by Nottinghamshire County Council and Via East Midlands in partnership with Homes England, Gedling Borough Council, D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership and Keepmoat Homes, housing developer for the Chase Farm site, which are all helping to fund the new road. Balfour Beatty started constructing the road in January this year and it is expected to take two years to complete.
