Holgate Meadows and Heritage Park, Sheffield

Life after Y11 can be confusing and daunting… Help is still available

At Holgate Meadows and Heritage Park we are committed to providing our students with personalised and independent advice and guidance, to prepare for life beyond the school gates.

We want to empower our students to plan and manage their own future, no matter what stage of career development they are currently at.

We will support them by responding to their needs and interests, by opening doors to experiences and opportunities that help them to progress and showing them that there are many opportunities and pathways for everyone to achieve success.

All staff contribute to CEIAG provision as form tutors, pastoral leaders and subject teachers. Specialist sessions are delivered by teachers and support staff with CEIAG responsibilities. The CEIAG programme is planned, monitored, and evaluated by the Careers Leader in consultation with Sheffield Futures and the Job Centre Plus.

Vaughan Skirrey & Jill Tomlinson: Careers Advisers

Fully qualified and experienced Careers Adviser who work with students in Y9, Y10 and Y11 in HPHM Schools.

Both advisers are members of the SEND Team at Sheffield Futures.  As such, they will attend all the annual reviews for young people at HPHM School in years 9-11 who have Education, Health and Care plans. Also responsible for writing alert forms for any Y11 student who might require additional support post 16, with the agreement of the young person and parents and/or carers.

All Y11 students will have a careers interview on a 1:1 basis in order to identify and discuss with them their options post 16 and future career pathways.  Parents are welcome to attend if they wish.  Students will then receive an individual action plan outlining the key points of the discussion, their next steps and sources of additional information. Students who need further help can request further interviews with the Sheffield Futures team. Students in other year groups can request an interview themselves or be referred by school staff.
