‘Achievement for all and aspiring for excellence’
Sir John Leman High School is committed to providing a good quality, planned and sequenced careers guidance programme to all its students, focusing on the specific needs of the individual student by providing impartial information, advice and guidance through a wide range of opportunities and activities.
In all years, students gain insights and experiences of the world of work and investigate career pathways following the key themes of our progressive Careers and Skills programme.
The three main learning outcomes for careers guidance activities at each key stage demonstrate student’s progress in self-development, career exploration and career management, ensuring our students leave the school with the skills and knowledge required to support their entry into further/ higher education, training or employment.
The school is supported by the Network for East Anglian Collaborative Outreach to widen student’s participation in higher education, and the FutureFirst alumni community to raise aspirations and provide first-hand insights into the successful career paths former students have taken.
The school works with the Enterprise Advisor Network, a national network that connects schools and colleges with employers, and the careers programme is regularly supported by volunteers from business, as well as parents and alumni, to create meaningful encounters which broaden our student’s horizons and challenge stereotypes, helping them understand the local labour market and recruitment processes in today’s rapidly changing world of work.
The school’s Careers Leader and Guidance Adviser is Mrs Allison Copeman
