The FitzWimarc School, Rayleigh
The choice of future pathways and careers are some of the most important decisions for a student, and the information and advice students get is pivotal. This page will focus on preparing students for life after Fitzwimarc, so for information regarding our Sixth Form and options please visit the relevant pages.
We provide a comprehensive, up to-date careers education and guidance programme, which is constantly evaluated and reviewed. Full details of the policy and programmes of study/opportunities are on the documents down the right hand side of this page. There are many links and opportunities throughout the curriculum and each department within the school are able to provide skills and information relevant to their areas.
Most CEIAG is delivered through Skills for Life (Sfl) lessons and during tutor time. We also have a programme of events for students throughout their time at school. In year 8 students can visit Kidzania (London) to experience different jobs/careers/education, earn and spend money, and explore their options independently. In Y10 mock interviews, following an application and CV process, are carried out with local and national business representatives and this progresses in year 11 and 12 with work experience.
Y12 and Y13 students have an excellent varied programme of visiting speakers from industry and education, as well as visits to higher education establishments, and careers/education fairs.
Students are able to self-refer for an appointment with our independent careers advisor through Student Services at school.
Destination data and NEET figures are reported to county and tracked according to guidance. Pupil feedback and assessment is gathered in a number of ways including written evaluations and case studies.
