Dominic Martyn

Dominic Martyn studied fisheries management at Sparsholt College Hampshire 2001-3 gaining world-wide experience. He then achieved a Masters in managing aquatic resources at Kings College London 2003/4. Before starting full time work with the Environment Agency (EA), he managed research projects including the impact of management on the Thames basin ecology, radio tracking grayling on the River Lambourn exploring the effect of weirs on fish migration and better use of dredged sediment for enhancing habitats.
In his 20 years of environment management, mostly with the Environment Agency, Dominic has had many roles.
2019-21 EA National Operations River Basin Management Plan Advisor updating and aligning RBMPs and FRMPs and making connections to other strategic planning opportunities to achieve more for people, flooding and the environment Dominic is best known for his work bringing people together from different interests to plan and achieve more in partnership, improving the water environment and contributing to climate action. He does this at work and voluntarily with different professional institutes.
Dom has been a committee member with Chartered Institution for Water and Environment Management, Institute of Agricultural Management and Institute of Fisheries Management helping build relationships and enhancing professionalism. He feels this approach has significant benefits for people, wildlife, economy, and the environment and responds to our need for step change improvements to tackle the climate and biodiversity crisis. He takes a systems approach, from local to international level promiting natural solutions on the ground achieving multiple benefits (soils, floods, droughts, biodiversity, jobs and skills, green growth). Dominic’s work now focusses on helping EA staff achieve successful public engagement improving our ambition in final RBMPs and FRMPs driving billions of pounds of investment to 2027.
