We’re excited to be hiring an Electronics Engineer Trainee to join our growing team. This role is only available to people eligible to work as part of the Government’s Kickstart Scheme.
What’s the kickstart scheme?
Kickstart offers an opportunity of a 6-month work placement (25 hours a week), accessible to young people aged 16-24 who are in receipt of Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work on the design, development, and productionisation of cutting-edge commercial autonomous systems.
You’ll Contribute to the design, implementation and testing of novel electrified powertrain with a particular emphasis on the electronic subsystems embedded in vehicles.
You’ll Contribute to the development and integration of the embedded and real-time electronic components including vehicle controls, module interface, actuators and sensors drivers, etc.
You will work collaboratively with team members throughout the entire design lifecycle to ensure that the functional relationships are optimized at all levels.
You’ll maintain and extend existing features, as well as work with the rest of the development team to resolve design concerns, as well as development and testing processes.
You’ll be laser-focused on quality and user experience, researching new features and soliciting customer input.
We’d like you to focus your initial efforts on assessing design requirements in order to fabricate prototype test setups and hardware-in-the-loop testers to integrate new subsystems with simulated and actual vehicle components.
You will contribute opinions on a range of topics, from development practices to product strategy and roadmap.

Job requirements
Requirements:
Degree in Electronics Engineering or related discipline OR equivalent experience and track record.
General understanding of most of the following: microcontroller electronics, circuit design and debugging, power supply topologies.
Intermediate to expert-level in computational software, such as MATLAB and Simulink for modeling and simulation.
Willing and ability to undertake theoretical and practical research with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to review schematics, technical data sheets and design calculation.
Familiarity with most of the following: digital integrated circuits, power electronics, signal processing, embedded system programming.
Ability to think creatively and be innovative with meticulous attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
Ability to cope with new demands and new problems and to work with deadlines with self-motivation.
Excellent communication and team working skills with the ability to work with and influence others within a culture of Continuous Improvement.
A flexible approach work, desire to thrive in a dynamic and exciting, fast-moving environment.
Strong IT skills including experience of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams and be willing to go beyond the call of duty.
Excellent telephone manner that is courteous and empathetic as well as experience working in customer service, ideally in an online retail environment.
This role is home-based (UK only) and you will need to supply your own laptop with a high-speed internet connection.
What are the working hours?
You’ll work 25 hours per week. The times will be agreed between us upon joining.
