This is an exciting time to join Autism Initiatives, we are seeking friendly and creative Support Workers to join us at our busy resource centres in Blackpool and Fleetwood due to recent growth and expansion. This centre provides specialist support for people with ASC and we offer support seven days a week. This means that those accessing services create their own bespoke package of support designed with them, not for them.

We are committed to working alongside the people we support to achieve the best possible outcomes. Our resource centre offers autism specialist personalised support for young people and adults with autism spectrum conditions, both within the centre and outside in the wider community. We are also further developing our Outreach support to people in the community and within their own homes. The support we deliver is flexible and unique to each individual building on their strengths and driven by their motivation.

We work with each individual to develop interests and goals, activities at the centre include:

Arts & crafts to include: jewellery making, resin crafts, candle making
Outdoor pursuits such as skiing, biking, outward bound walking
Cookery classes
Swimming
We are looking for people who can bring their passion and enthusiasm to the role in order to achieve positive outcomes for the people that we support. The range of activities can reflect the skills, knowledge and experience of the post holder, but will also need to meet the wishes of the people that we support.

In return, we will provide you with ongoing training and development, including supporting you to obtain your Diploma Level 2 qualification. Given the nature of this role, successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure, the cost of which will be met by Autism Initiatives.

Throughout the COVID 19 pandemic we continue to prioritise the safety of our staff and people with autism; we are working together to make sure that we reduce risk of infection and support everybody’s wellbeing as we go through this challenging time.

At the moment, our interviews are being conducted remotely to minimise risk and ensure we are adhering to government guidelines. Autism Initiatives provide staff with appropriate PPE to ensure the safety of our staff and people with autism and reduce the risk of infection.

From October 2021 following Parliamentary approval and a subsequent 16 week grace period, anyone working in a CQC registered care home in England for residents requiring nursing or personal care, must have had 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, unless they have a medical exemption.
